CRP PO stands for Common Recruitment Process for Probationary Officers. It is the official name the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) uses for the exam most people call IBPS PO — so CRP PO and IBPS PO are the same exam. Its full official name is CRP PO/MT, because the same process also recruits Management Trainees. Every number in this article is taken from the official CRP PO/MT-XVI notification on ibps.in.

What is the full form of CRP PO?
| Term | Stands for | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| CRP | Common Recruitment Process | One common exam that recruits for several public sector banks at once |
| PO | Probationary Officer | The entry-level officer post in the participating banks |
| MT | Management Trainee | Some banks recruit under this name through the same process |
| XVI | 16 (Roman numeral) | The cycle number — CRP PO/MT-XVI is the 16th cycle, notified on 1 July 2026 |
Is CRP PO and IBPS PO the same?
Yes. IBPS PO is the popular name and CRP PO/MT is the official one. IBPS conducts the online Preliminary and Main examinations; the participating banks then hold a common interview, coordinated by a nodal bank, and shortlisted candidates are provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks. When a website says “IBPS PO 2026” and the official PDF says “CRP PO/MT-XVI”, they mean the same recruitment.
SBI PO is not part of CRP PO. The State Bank of India runs its own separate recruitment, so it never appears in the IBPS list of participating banks.
CRP PO vs other IBPS CRPs
